You need a first-pass hand truck class before buying. Enter the heaviest single load in pounds. The calculator names the smallest class - 500, 600, or 1000 lb - that clears that load, or returns NO_MATCH. It is not a certified move plan or stair-climb engineering check.
Why heaviest-load matching matters
Listings publish capacity for a stated mode. Buying on a lighter typical trip can still tip or overload when the heavy piece arrives. Matching the heaviest move to published capacity avoids that trap while stating the limits of this shopping screen.
Class ladder on this site
Classes use published VEVOR US ratings checked 2026-09-10: 500 lb upright hand truck, 600 lb upright hand truck, and 1000 lb convertible cart in platform mode. Matching rule: smallest class where class.cap >= load_lb.
When the answer is NO_MATCH
If the load exceeds 1000 lb, this site returns NO_MATCH. Typical next steps: split the load, use a pallet jack or powered stacker, or choose industrial equipment outside this screen. Do not force a 1000 lb consumer unit.
Mode, straps, and tip-over
Confirm live capacity and mode. Convertible carts often rate lower upright than on four wheels. Center and strap the load. Watch tip-over on stairs and ramps. Never ride the truck.
